New materials from the computer: ESF junior research group CoSiMa

The ESF junior research group “Computer Simulations for Material Design – CoSiMa”, funded since 2015, deals with a highly topical subject. The work of the international group with 10 junior researchers from Germany, Brazil, Italy, Bulgaria and India focuses on highly up-to-date issues in the field of material simulations for applications in key technologies in the Free State of Saxony, such as automotive, biomedicine or energy technology. From September 2018 until the end of February 2019, the group will receive funding from the European Union and the Free State of Saxony with a further 400,000 euros.
In order to strengthen the interdisciplinary character of the group, the individual junior researchers will each be supervised by a team of professors consisting of at least two scientists from different disciplines such as materials science, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics or computer science. In total, 11 professorships of the TU Dresden as well as 7 partner institutions in the DRESDEN-concept as well as Chemnitz and Bochum, all members of the Dresden Center for Computational Materials Science (DCMS), which initiated and coordinates the group, participate in the scientific guidance of the group.
